FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If there's anything you want to know that isn't addressed here, feel free to drop us a line on our contact page and we'll answer your question right away.
Q: Why didn’t I think of that?
A: That’s usually the first question we get. Truth is, some of the best product ideas come from solving everyday problems. There are plenty of problems out there…go get solving!
Q: Do I need an electrician to install a 360 outlet?
A: 360 outlets are actually very easy to install even if you’re a novice do-it-yourselfer. Make sure you turn the power off at your breaker box or fuse box before attempting any installation. Check out our installation instructions for a detailed step-by-step tutorial.
Q: Are there wires inside that can get twisted during rotation?
A: No, there are no wires inside so each socket can rotate freely in either direction.
Q: How does it work?
A: Inside each 360 Electrical outlet are blade retention “clips” that hold the hot and common blades and the ground pin of a male plug. At the end of those internal copper clips are tabs that make constant contact with copper bands that encircle the round receptacle drums. With no internal wires, you can turn our sockets in either direction, and whatever you have plugged in will stay powered even if you’re rotating the plug.
Q: Where can I buy a 360 Electrical outlet?
A: You can buy 360 Electrical outlets ONLINE, at hardware stores that sell electrical products, and through electrical distributors.
Q: Are you a publicly traded company?
A: 360 Electrical is a privately held Utah-based company.
Q: Can you wire 360 outlets in a multi-gang box?
A: Yes, 360 outlets can be wired successfully in a multi-gang box. Since 360 outlets have round sockets, you will need a special multi-gang wallplate. These wallplates will be available shortly. Stay tuned to our website for further details.
Q: Can the top and bottom receptacle circuits be isolated so that one can be connected to a nearby switch?
A: Because of the internal design of our outlets, there is no break-off tab for circuit isolation on a 360 outlet. Our outlets can be wired to a switch but the top and bottom cannot be separated.
Q: Are your outlets GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) protected?
A: Our duplex outlets are not GFCI protected but can provide GFCI protection as long as they are wired downline from an existing GFCI or if a GFCI breaker is installed on the proper circuit in your electrical box. A GFCI breaker easily replaces a standard breaker and can be purchased at most local hardware stores.
Q: Are 360 Electrical outlets UL listed?
A: Yes, our outlets were rigorously tested by Underwriters Laboratories in the United States. Our receptacles are listed to UL Standard 498 (File no. E304553) and our wallplates are listed to UL standard 514D (File no. E312254).
Q: Can these be used with aluminum wire?
A: No, 360 outlets are only for use with copper wiring.
Q: Do you have multi-gang wallplates available?
A: We’ll have multi-gang wallplates available soon. Stay tuned to our website for more details.
Q: How do I become a distributor?
A: We’ve been getting many requests from companies that are interested in distributing our products. If you’re interested, please send an e-mail to support@360electrical.com.
